The Hotel Roanoke & Conference Center
2007 Guest Room Renovation
Scope of Project
Interview with R.D. Wright, Director of Property Operations
On January 22nd the Hotel Roanoke & Conference Center initiated a two phase
project to renovate all of its guest rooms and adjacent corridors in celebration of
its 125th year of operation.
Phase one which will be completed prior to May 7, 2007 will include 150 guest
rooms located on floors two and three of the hotel. The new décor was designed
by Ms. Jillian Van Dresser of Atlanta, who grew up in Blacksburg, VA.
Each guest room has received new traditional-style furniture from American of
Martinsville including: dresser, night stand(s), desk, desk chair, coffee station,
easy chair or sofa bed, and lamps. Flat screen TVs have been installed in selected
rooms. The monogrammed Hotel Roanoke headboards and newly installed
Doubletree Sweet Dreams Beds will be complimented by new carpeting,
draperies and shears, bedspreads, wall vinyl and trim paint.
Each guest bath was renovated to present a more residential appearance featuring
new tile flooring, wall vinyl, lighting, mirrors and custom
vanity cabinets with black granite tops. The corridors on levels one, two, three
and mezzanine received new wall vinyl, trim paint, wall sconces and custom
designed carpeting.
In December this year, the Hotel will continue the renovation process to complete
the remaining 181 guest rooms and corridors. Scheduled completion of phase
two is March 31, 2008. The total capital investment is expected to be
approximately $6,500,000.
